LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Proponents of the Elam Ending in basketball say it provides a more worthy winner and the possibility for more exciting finishes than traditional late-game basketball sequences.
Herd That more than got its moneyòòò½ÊÓƵ™s worth on Sunday.
The Marshall University alumni-based The Basketball Tournament team was four War Ready points away from losing in the TBT second round on Sunday afternoon in Rupp Arena.
But after Wendell Greenòòò½ÊÓƵ™s layup put Auburnòòò½ÊÓƵ™s alumni team up 59-49, with the target score 63, Herd That rattled off the final 14 points to win 63-59 and tie for the biggest Elam Ending comeback in TBT history.
Tyrus McGee scored eight points during Herd Thatòòò½ÊÓƵ™s frenetic comeback, including the game-ending 3-pointer after DeAndre Kaneòòò½ÊÓƵ™s steal and dish.
JaCorey Williams scored 13 points to pace Herd That. McGee added 11 off the bench.
JP Tokoto had 10 rebounds for Herd That, which won despite shooting 37.3% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 61.1% at the foul line.
