They call him "Smooth" for a reason. The Middle Tennessee transfer had two touchdowns in his Herd debut, including an impressive 28-yard pitch-and-catch, on which he juked a defender by cutting back to the middle of the field and sprinting for the score.

Thomas made a difference early, breaking up a pass on the first drive of the game, and he finished with career-high six tackles and two PBUs in the season opener.

The Australian native punted four times and averaged over 40 yards per boot. He had one over 50 yards and downed two inside the Stony Brook 20.
